Jewelry Care
Jewelry Mart in Miami knows that once you make an investment in fine jewelry, you want to keep those pieces looking beautiful. We are authorized dealers for Elini Watches and Movado, and those pieces do come with a manufacturer's warranty. However, simple care tips will keep your jewelry in good working order for years to come.
- Although a watch may be waterproof or water resistant, avoid exposing it to intense heat or steam, such as a sauna, steam room or dish water. Unless a watch is specifically rated for diving, avoid wearing it in high pressure water, such as the ocean.
- Store your pieces in a clean, dry place, preferably in a fabric-lined box. If you choose to store your pieces in an ordinary box (wooden or otherwise) individually wrap the pieces in soft tissue paper.
- Even though diamonds are among the hardest substances on Earth, they can still be damaged if treated roughly. Remove your diamond jewelry before working with chlorine bleach or other household chemicals – this includes the swimming pool or hot tub.
- Hairspray, perfume or simple perspiration can leave residue on your jewelry. After wearing it, wipe it with a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth to remove oils and chemicals.
- Do not expose your gold jewelry to soapy water. The residue can build up and make the metal seem dull. Simple prevention can reduce how often this type of jewelry will need to be professionally cleaned.
- Even if you are handy around the house, leave jewelry repairs and watch repairs for the experts. If a piece breaks while you are wearing it, store all the bits and pieces in a sealed bag as-is and take everything into the shop.
