Frequently Asked Questions
What is a transponder key?
It's an electronic, coded transponder chip embedded in the plastic body of your vehicle's key. The chip is passive, so there is no need for a battery. The code is read when you turn the key in the ignition. If the transponder chip happens to break or its missing, the engine will not start. To replace your key you would have to return to your dealer. Transponder keys are secure but can also be expensive and time consuming to replace if broken or lost. Try to treat these keys as you would expensive jewelry.
How can I conclude what type of safe I need?
Safes are created in a variety of grades and strengths. The grade of safe you need is determined by the value of items that you need to have secured. The higher the value on an item or items, the stronger this safe needs to be. But, stronger does not really mean bigger. If you are going to keep your items safe, your insurers are most likely going to specify and inform you of what grade of safe they would like you to install. In this case it is essential to confirm with your insurers before any safe is installed.
Why do I have to wiggle my keys in the lock?
Over time, locks age and pins in a lock cylinder tend to "wear down". This causes your keys to stick and forces you to "wiggle" or "jiggle" your key into the lock so that it works properly.
