We are a full service jewelry
store. We specialize in doing repairs and custom designs that the
average store is not able to do. Our experienced ownership and our
skilled jewelers enable us to serve our customers with confidence
and to provide consistent quality products. We have the ability,
in shop, to do almost any type of repair, including all services
and custom designs, in addition to our inventory of fine jewelry.
We feature quality designs that will stand the test of time. Our
items are made to last and can be passed down and become family
heirlooms.
With knowledgeable staff and our Graduate
Gemologist, we have the credentials and knowledge
to give the public the information they need.
 Walter
Hays Pickens, Sr. (President & CEO) started working as a jeweler
when he finished school in 1940. He worked as an apprentice in a
trade shop until he went into the Navy in September 1942. After
the war, he went straight back onto the bench and worked at various
trade shops until 1955 when he began work as the Shop Foreman at
Albert Wyatt Jewelers.
When Mr. Wyatt retired in 1973, he approached Mr. Pickens to see
if he was interested in taking over Albert Wyatt Jewelers. Mr. Pickens
bought the shop in 1973 and continued to operate as Albert Wyatt
Jewelers until October 1, 1979, when the company incorporated and
became Pickens, Inc.
When Walter H. Pickens, Jr. (Vice-President & CFO) finished
his undergraduate work at the University of Georgia, and his Graduate
Gemology work at the Gemological Institute of America residency
program in California, it was decided to combine his business and
gemology expertise with Mr. Pickens, Sr.'s 40 years of trade shop
repair expertise. They opened a retail storefront, providing retail repair
services as well as retail merchandise, when they moved to Buckhead in 1980, the same time that Mary
Pickens decided to lend her assistance to the team.
