Welcome
Did you know?
- Juveniles charged with TRAFFIC OFFENSES do not appear in Juvenile Court to answer to charges, whether they are merely traffic infractions or criminal in nature. They appear in adult court.
- Although Juvenile Delinquency cases are usually handled in Juvenile Court and much of the content of court files is privileged and confidential, the charges brought by police and those filed by the State, the final disposition and more, although occasionally inaccurate or incomplete, can be accessed by the public UNLESS it is SEALED OR EXPUNGED.
- There is NO GUARANTEE that YOUR CHILD WILL BE PROSECUTED IN JUVENILE COURT. There are many circumstances where children are charged with "juvenile delinquent acts" that would be felonies if they were adults. In other cases, they may be prosecuted as adult felons in adult Circuit Criminal Court, subject to possible prison sentences.

Merrilee Ehrlich, Esquire, has practiced law in the State of Florida for over 25 years. She previously worked as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, in the juvenile, misdemeanor and felony divisions. As a Defense Attorney, she has successfully represented children in both the juvenile and adult courts.
Most criminal defense attorneys concentrate their practice on adult cases and rarely practice in juvenile court. Because of this, they often lack the experience to effectively represent children. Many of the rules and procedures in Juvenile Court are different than in Adult Court. For instance, there is no right to a jury trial and there is no right to bail in Juveline Court.
Don't hire an inexperienced attorney. Call Merrilee Ehrlich, Esq. Your child's future is at stake!
